Animal Life Savers Adoption Tutorial

Where do the rescued animals come from?
ALS animals come from many different places and situations. Some are given up when their guardians can’t or don’t want to keep them, and some are lost and brought to the shelter by a Good Samaritan.

How do I adopt from Animal Life Savers?
We encourage potential adopters to visit with several of the animals we have available to get a good idea of whether a specific animal will be a good match.

Adoption applicants should consider carefully the decision to adopt. Do you
have the time, energy, and long term ability to care for an animal? Our adoption
staff has a wealth of experience and information to assist you in deciding which
type of animal is best suited to your household and lifestyle. Please keep in
mind that the primary care of any companion animal family member is an adult
responsibility.

What are some of the requirements?

  • Adopters must be 21 years of age or older.

  • If you rent, you must provide a copy of your lease stating that you are permitted to have the specific type of animal that you would like to adopt.

  • Current address verification is required. If your ID, i.e. driver’s license, has a different address than on your application, address verification will be needed.

  • All cats and dogs currently living in the household must be current on vaccinations and spayed or neutered, or the adopter must be willing to do so within a specified period of time.

  • A fenced-in yard may be required at the discretion of the Adoption Committee.

  •  The adoption fee for Puppies and Dogs ranges from $100 to $250.

  • The adoption fee for Kittens and Cats ranges from $80 to $100

Many people do not realize the time, energy, and financial commitment
necessary to properly care for their companion animal family member for their lifetime.

It is very important to consider the time you have available on a daily basis
to spend with your new companion, before adopting.
